A rare opportunity to own one of Eatonton's true architectural treasures. Known as the historic Wilkins-Cooper-Jenkins House and dating to circa 1814-1818, this remarkable residence is recognized as the oldest home on Madison Avenue and is featured on Eatonton's Historic Walking Tour. Originally constructed as a Federal cottage, the home evolved over generations with Greek Revival and later Gothic Revival influences before Judge W.F. Jenkins moved it to its present setting in 1909. Set on 5.69 private, park-like acres in the heart of historic Eatonton, the home offers approximately 3,676 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 4 fireplaces and 4 porches. Extraordinary original details remain beautifully intact, including antique heart-pine floors, lath-and-plaster walls, decorative plaster moldings and ceiling medallions, original millwork and picture rails, floor-to-ceiling windows, wavy glass and stained glass. The extensive renovation was thoughtfully completed with respect for the home's history. The fully integrated kitchen by Oconee Cabinets features custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, a 36" Kucht range, Liebherr refrigeration, Bosch dishwasher, Silver Travertine flooring and polished-nickel fixtures. Beautifully appointed baths incorporate Ming Green, Thassos and Carrara marble, limestone and mother-of-pearl mosaic with fixtures and lighting from Waterworks, Restoration Hardware, Visual Comfort and Circa. Antique alabaster, crystal and brass lighting can be found throughout the home. The oldest bedroom retains its original shiplap walls and fireplace and opens through two sets of French doors to a private porch. The living room/library features handmade plaster cornices, ceiling medallion, custom bookcases and original gilded picture rail, while the dining room fireplace has been rebuilt with a Silver Travertine surround. A partially finished attic provides additional flexible space and is plumbed for a future half bath. Outside, mature landscaping creates an extraordinary setting with historic trees, Japanese maples, dogwoods, azaleas, boxwoods, flowering shrubs and thousands of daffodils and other bulbs. Original terracotta walkways, the historic tower and former kitchen house further preserve the property's story. Remarkably private yet moments from downtown Eatonton, this is more than a historic residence-it is over two centuries of Georgia architecture, craftsmanship and landscape ready for its next chapter.

Welcome to the historic Shields-Leverett-Blackwell House in the heart of Downtown Eatonton. We like to call this home "hybrid historic"-beautifully preserved on the outside while extensively and thoughtfully renovated on the inside. Offering approximately 3,850 square feet with six bedrooms and four full baths, this home delivers the character of a true historic property with the comfort and functionality of today. The previous owner updated and rebuilt the home from the ground up, all new plumbing, wiring and drywall - it was taken down to the studs and thoughtfully put back together to preserve this very special home. Since 2023, the current owners have completed additional extensive custom renovations while being intentional about preserving the character of the home. Throughout the interior, the house was finished with substantial, historically inspired trim, professionally installed custom wallpaper, plantation shutters throughout, updated lighting and carefully selected finishes. The kitchen features Samsung Bespoke glass-front appliances and a custom-built island with cabinetry, built-in microwave and butcher-block countertop, along with additional custom pantry cabinetry. The exterior received an equally impressive transformation-one that was recognized with an award from the City of Eatonton. Extensive professional landscaping, new sod, a 5 zoned irrigation system, new concrete driveway and walkways, a raised garden area, fencing with an electronic gate, new gutters and a large rear deck were added, along with an oversized two-car carport with attached enclosed storage. In addition, the home offers a historic workshop and additional storage on both side of the workshop. All mechanical systems and roof are only three/four years old, spray foam insulation in the attic and crawlspace, home is on county water and city sewer with natural gas for the stove. The result is something truly special: a historic home that retains the charm and architectural presence of its past while living like a home that has been renewed for today. With its beautiful front porch, mature setting and walkable Downtown Eatonton location, 201 N. Madison Avenue is ready for the next chapter in its long history. This is an agent-owned property as both owners are licensed Realtors in the state of Georgia.
